picurl photo timeline based on SIMILE Timeline
About this timeline
This timeline shows pictures I took on a hike at Krems, Lower Austria on Oct 19, 2008. The little icons are strongly downscaled versions of my photos. The Text next to the icon is the filename as it was generated by my camera. The Photos are ordered by their EXIF creation date.
How to use the Timeline:
- By clicking on an icon, you can open a bubble with a bigger version of the photo.
- Drag the upper timeband to move back and forth.
- Drag the lower timeband (day units) to move back and forth quickly.
But what is it for?
I see a strong potential in the timeline as UI component:
- Explore your photos in a time-based manner and in correlation with calendar information (e.g. your holiday schedule as iCal + the pictures your took in one timeline)
- If you have photos from multiple photographers from the same event, the timeline can be useful as an overview tool (who took pictures at which period of the event?) and even help to correct EXIF timestamp offsets visually.
